About This Collection

The HBS Art and Artifacts Collection includes over 1,000 original works and serves as a key teaching and learning resource for the HBS community.


Some highlights of the HBS Art and Artifacts Collection include a 4th-century AD Roman mosaic; marine paintings by Fitz Henry Lane and James Buttersworth; 19th-century landscape paintings by Thomas Doughty and Alvan Fisher; works in bronze by  American sculptors Cyrus Dallin and Charles Humphriss; a group of Currier and Ives hand-colored lithographs; tapestries and prints by Joan Miró; prints by Jean Dubuffet, Helen Frankenthaler, Roy Lichtenstein, Michael Mazur, and Neil Welliver; contemporary sculptures by Joel Shapiro, Mary Frank, Rainer Lagemann, and Michio Ihara; mixed media works by Nam June Paik, Radcliffe Bailey, and Doris Salcedo; and photographs by Lynda Benglis, Aaron Siskind, Carrie Mae Weems, Martha Rosler, Vik Muniz, and Marina Abramovic. 

The Schwartz Art Collection forms a significant portion of the contemporary art collection at HBS and consists of over 300 objects.
