Research & Data Services for HBS Faculty & Doctoral Students

We advance the intellectual ambition of HBS faculty and doctoral students by providing leading- edge services at every stage of the research lifecycle.

Baker Research & Data Services (BRDS) is a team of highly experienced business researchers, librarians and data specialists providing information, data, analytical and visualization solutions for HBS faculty, research associates, and doctoral students. We support research projects and publications using Baker collections as well as licensed and publicly available data. Project work for faculty is charged to faculty research budgets at a rate of $40/hour.

We are based in Baker Library | Bloomberg Center 130, a space that houses PC workstations with specialized software and resources available to faculty, research associates, and doctoral students for company and financial data (Capital IQ excel plug-in, Crunchbase Premium, Morningstar Direct), converting documents to machine-readable files (ABBYY FineReader, Bookeye document scanner), statistical analysis (SAS, StataMP, StatTransfer, R and R Studio), GIS/mapping (ArcGIS), and more.
