Professor Alfred Chandler defined the field of business history. His extensive collection includes his lecture and seminar notes and almost the entire body of his professional correspondence. It is rich in research material gathered during his comparative studies of corporate structure and its development in the United States and other industrial economies. 

Special Collections & Archives also holds the personal library of Alfred Chandler, which includes books he collected for his research and received from colleagues. The books include annotations and notes tucked within the margins.
