PatentSight: Identify and assess small players

How can I use PatentSight database to identify and assess small and emerging players?

You can use PatentSight to identify and assess small emerging players, like startups, in a defined tech domain.

A. To retrieve data:

Select Custom Analysis
Click IPC icon in the Field Search tool bar to add IPC classification code
Use the “AND” operator
Click More icon in the Field Search tool bar to open “Add Search Field” menu
Select Ownership to open the related list
Scroll down to choose Total Portfolio Sized of Owner Today
Add the velum of the size needed
Change the “AND” operator to “AND NOT”
Choose Total Portfolio Sized of Owner Today
Add the velum of the size needed
Use AND operator again
Select Company in the Owner Type bucket from the Ownership related list
Run the search by clicking the red Search Results button
You can now go through some of the results to assess the accuracy of the dataset

Select the “>>” icon to open Analysis Templates panel
Pick the template needed
The visualized analysis will be displayed (e.g. Patent Asset Index Trend)
Further editing charts/tables, use the setting/gear icon in the blue bar of the template
Select the “+” icon under the top dark blue tool bar to add new template as needed
May use the Generate Insights button to open a dialog with the AI-powered tool
