Library AI Research Tools

Several Baker resources have incorporated AI search into their interface.

As always, we recommend reviewing output from AI critically for accuracy and using AI as one part of your research strategy alongside traditional research methods.

AlphaSense and DeepSky

AlphaSense and Deepsky are built primarily around AI interfaces.

AlphaSense

  • Select the Generative AI option in the left-hand navigation menu.

  • Select Fast, Think Longer, or Deep Research.

  • You can customize which documents and sources to search (expert insights, filings, earnings transcripts, news). You can also include your own documents to add to the search (upload documents first to your AlphaSense Notebook).

  • To view your gen AI search history, from the main gen AI search page, click the return arrow icon in the upper left of the screen.

  • Select the Generative Grid option in the left-hand menu to create reports and other deliverables using pre-built templates. Or, create (and save) your own grid template.

DeepSky.ai

  • Includes data from FactSet, Crunchbase, Polygon.ai, and filings from the SEC.

  • FactSet data includes fundamentals data, ownership data, consensus estimates, market events, and company profiles. Does not include third-party data feeds, full historical coverage, or advanced analytics, metrics & screening capabilities.

  • Crunchbase data includes company profiles, funding data, and investor and people information. Does not include full granularity of data regarding people, funding, or investors. Also does not include web and IT spend data.

  • Polygon data includes US stock and option data, indices data, Forex and cryptocurrencies data, and financial news. Does not include international equities data, or commodities, futures, or fixed-income data.

Additional Baker databases with AI functionality

ABI/ProQuest

  • ProQuest's Research Assistant presents key takeaways and findings for articles. It also suggests related topics to explore.

BCC Research

  • Click on the Beacon icon to the left of the search bar to use gen AI search (currently in Beta).

  • Presents sample prompts to guide users in formulating questions.

  • Generates summaries based on information from BCC Research reports and includes links to relevant reports (includes reports that are not part of our subscription.

  • Stores a record of conversation history for ongoing engagement.

CB Insights

  • Click on the ChatCBI icon on the left toolbar to use gen AI search.

  • Generative AI search can pull together information from across CB Insights, including company data, financing, and research.

  • Features a "magic mode", where you can select various topics that function as pre-built prompts, including a company deep dive, market trend report, and more. Click on one of the listed options and simply add the name of the company or industry to begin.

  • Results can be copied or downloaded as a PDF.

CrunchBase

  • Offers Crunchbase Scout, an AI search agent on the main page, as well as an AI Search Builder that can help create lists of companies, people, or investors.

  • Crunchbase Scout can answer some basic questions and link to example lists based on natural language search. Results are often only one or two paragraphs long and cannot be downloaded directly. Continue with additional prompts to get more from Scout.

  • The AI Search Builder, found under "Advanced Search" in the upper right, can create a list of companies, people, or investors based on a natural language prompt. Helpful for users to understand various filters and features available in Crunchbase.

Economist Intelligence Unit

  • Select AI - Ask a Question (upper right of screen).

  • Response includes citations to EIU content used to generate response.

  • Browser link is stable and can be shared (HU or HBS authentication required).

  • Traditional search results are also provided below the AI response and can be filtered by Geography, Topic, or Article Type.

Gartner

  • Select AskGartner to use gen AI search. AskGartner provides inline references to relevant Gartner reports and suggests follow-up questions. Gartner also retains your chat history.

IBISWorld

  • Currently, IBISWorld's AI capabilities are limited. Within a report, Toggle Paragraph Analysis on to view AI summaries of report sections.

Mintel

  • Select Leap to explore their consumer insights using a generative AI interface.

  • Draws exclusively from Mintel’s proprietary reports.

  • Offers sample prompts to help users begin their search and suggests follow-up questions for deeper exploration.

  • Maintains a search history during the current session.

ScienceDirect

  • ScienceDirect has a Reading Assistant that will display on the right hand side of articles and other content. The Reading Assistant helps researchers answer research questions faster and more efficiently by querying an article and generating real-time responses.

Statista

  • Click on Research AI to access Statista's prompt interface. Output includes inline references. Research AI saves 30 days of chat history for the user.
