Georges F. Doriot Papers, 1921 - 1984

The papers of Georges F. Doriot includes Doriot's notes, course materials, correspondence, writings, and speeches related to his teaching at Harvard Business School, including an extensive collection of student reports from the Manufacturing course. This collection also contains documents from Doriot's involvement with American Research and Development (ARD), including his personal notes on ARD as well as the annual reports and documents from the merger of ARD with Textron, Inc.
Kenneth H. Olsen collection, 1940-2011

This collection documents the work of Ken Olsen, computer engineer, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) and president of the company from 1957 to 1992. American Research and Development (ARD) provided the initial funding for the launch of Digital Equipment Corporation in 1957. Ken Olsen and Georges Doriot subsequently developed a lifelong personal and professional relationship, and Olsen served as an ARD board member. The collection includes records that document the relationship between DEC and ARD, and between Olsen and Doriot, from the 1950s to 1990s.
American Research and Development Papers, 1946-1991
This collection documents Georges F. Doriot's involvement with the venture capital company American Research and Development (ARD). The letters, memos, and speeches demonstrate Doriot's influence within ARD and his unwavering commitment to research and development as the cornerstone of successful investments. This collection also contains annual reports from various venture capital companies that Doriot was involved with, including ARD, Canadian Enterprise Development Corporation, European Enterprise Development Company, and North Atlantic Capital Corporation. Additional materials include information on the French Library in Boston, a book of poems, an address by Doriot, and programs from Doriot's memorial service in 1987.
Manufacturing Course Student Reports, 1927-1952
This collection includes reports submitted by students in the Manufacturing Course taught by Professor Georges F. Doriot from 1927-1968. The reports cover a wide range of topics often related to new technologies such as plastics, automation, and radiation.
Georges F. Doriot Research Collection, 1928-1952
This small collection of research materials kept by Georges F. Doriot while teaching at Harvard Business School includes correspondence and research related to aviation, atomic energy, and radio isotopes. Correspondence includes letters requesting trade literature and information from companies, as well as letters from students conducting research for Doriot's Manufacturing course. The collection also includes miscellaneous aeronautics brochures and timetables.
HBS Archives Photograph Collection: Wartime schools, 1942-1945
Photographs from the HBS Archives document the activities of training schools and courses at HBS during World War II, including the Army Air Forces Statistical School, Army Air Forces War Adjustment Course, Army Supply Officers Training School, Navy Industrial Accounting Officers School, Navy Supply Corps School, and the Quartermaster ROTC unit at HBS. Photographs include soldiers in military formation on the HBS and Harvard University campuses, in classrooms, playing sports, at dances and other social events, with family members, and graduations. The collection also includes photographs of HBS faculty who were involved with the wartime effort.

Peter O. Crisp Papers, 1946-2008
Materials relate to the venture capital company Venrock Associates and its founding family, the Rockefellers, compiled by founding partner Peter O. Crisp (HBS MBA '60). It includes information on Venrock's investments, investment performance and analysis, and notes by Crisp on venture capital in general. The collection also includes many documents related to Laurance Spelman Rockefeller, his investment career, history, and interests.
William Elfers Papers, 1965-2003
Papers document the history of Greylock & Co. (now Greylock Partners) and William Elfers' (HBS MBA '43) role within this venture capital company. The bulk of the materials were created or gathered by Elfers as he wrote Greylock: An Adventure Capital Story, a company history published in 1995. The collection includes a series of Greylock & Co. analysis reports, 1966-1993.

This collection consists of papers, documents, and materials by and about Stanley Pratt and the field of venture capital. The collection also includes Pratt's testimonies before various government institutions, his work on committees related to small business and venture capital, and materials from numerous conferences Pratt attended and presented at.
