Buckeye Pipe Line Co.

List of Deals

Buckeye was originally founded in 1886 to gather crude oil as part of the Standard Oil Company. After federal regulations in 1911 mandated that Standard break up its monopoly, Buckeye became a publicly owned, independent company.

The company expanded into the business of transporting petroleum products after World War II. This move made Buckeye one of the nation's largest independent common carrier pipelines. Buckeye continued to grow and expanded its geographical region during the 1950s. The company constructed a new products system in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York from an origin point in the New York Harbor refining and distribution complex. During the 1960s Buckeye built the first products pipeline through the streets of New York City in order to serve the three major airports and commercial customers in the city.
