Service Overview

REPRODUCTIONS

Baker Library Special Collections and Archives offers various copy and delivery options to assist both onsite and remote users with their research. We also can assist users with obtaining high-quality scans suitable for publication, exhibition, classroom, or presentation use.

A majority of our collection materials can be photographed for reference purposes with a small personal handheld camera, cell phone, or tablet. Large cameras and tripods are not allowed. Collection materials that cannot be photographed may be eligible for reproduction services.

Due to high demand and limited staff resources, we do not offer reproduction services for the R.G. Dun & Co. Credit Report Volumes.

All copy requests should be submitted to Baker Library Special Collections and Archives through HOLLIS Special Request. The first time you use the system you will be prompted to create an account. You do not need a Harvard ID to register or request reproductions of Special Collections and Archives material. Detailed instructions for submitting a request can be found here. Please see below for additional information on fees and pricing for copies created in-house; all costs are subject to change. Depending on the details of the order, collection material may be sent to Harvard Library Imaging Services, which has a separate fee structure.

Requests for reproductions including physical copies, digital scans, high-resolution file retrieval, and audiovisual reformatting are considered on a case-by-case basis. Permission depends upon the physical condition of the material in question, copyright considerations, donor restrictions, and other stipulations. The ability to fulfill a reproduction request should not be assumed in advance. If a fee is involved, all orders must be paid in full before requests will be processed. Special Collections and Archives will make up to 500 reference scans for each user per year. Receipt of reproductions does not include permission to publish the reproduction.

We do our best to provide copies within a reasonable amount of time, depending on the complexity of the order and available staff time. Large orders may require additional time.

Please contact Special Collections Reference Staff with any questions about our reproduction policies.
