The Plympton Cotton Manufacturing Company was a manufacturer of cotton yarn in Plympton, Massachusetts, in the first half of the nineteenth century. It left behind only partial and fragmentary records. Names of women workers do not appear in the time books. However, the 1830-1840 ledger of a general store, probably the company store, shows that women kept running accounts with the store, and that they often paid "by work."
