Mss 442 1824-1932 Series B: Employment records and payrolls |
The Nashua Manufacturing Company was a cotton textile manufacturer in Nashua, New Hampshire, in 1823. Over the next century, it acquired several other textile manufacturers, including Jackson Company, Indian Head Mills, and Tremont and Suffolk Mills. Acquired by Textron, Inc., in 1945, the Nashua Mills closed in 1948.
The collection is notable for a long run of wage receipts from 1828 to 1881, including those for women factory workers. It also contains other, more fragmentary, employment records, including payrolls and time books.
