J.J. White Paper Company Collection
Catalog Record
Mss 495 c.1929-1945
Cartons 1-3

The J.J. White Paper Company manufactured specialty paper products in Canton, Massachusetts, from 1929 until 1963. Mary Cardarelli (b. 1911), who started as a secretary at J.J. White in 1929, assumed control of the business for White's estate in 1939, along with sales manager, Robert J. Kincade. In 1940, Cardarelli and Kincade purchased the business and operated it until it was sold in 1963 to Phoenix Building Products, also co-owned by a woman business manager, Mary A. Reynolds.

The collection contains three cartons of J.J. White Company correspondence. The letters date mostly from 1940 and contain the secretarial signature "/C" in the lower left hand corner. This likely indicates that they were typed and perhaps composed by Mary Cardarelli, although none of the letters were sent in her name.
