Volume 1 of the account books of Charles Phelps, a farmer in Hadley, Massachusetts, records payments made for the domestic labor of Polly Randell between 1809 and 1810.

Between 1810 and 1814, Phelps provided for Widow Framer by "an order of the Selectmen." Volumes 4 and 5 include payments made to Elizabeth Noonan for domestic service.
