The Barnard collection includes correspondence between Chester I. Barnard and Maria (Lambin) Rogers between 1947 and 1958.

The letters mainly discuss their shared interest in voluntary associations. They exchange books and discuss them in long letters. Rogers was the secretary of the Committee on Autonomous Groups in New York City and the editor of their bulletin. She was confined to a wheelchair and described herself as an invalid. She gave up the editorship of the bulletin in 1958 due to her failing health.
