Francis W. Winn ran a woolen textile mill and general store in Dexter, New York, after the Civil War. The ledger, which is the sole volume in this collection, records weaving done by women from 1851 to 1856, as well as one instance in which a woman was paid for being a night watchman. Women weavers were paid by the piece in cash and in provisions from the store.
