George Deake's accounts record his work as a surveyor, writing deeds, and attending arbitration during the mid-eighteenth century. He also records his wife's contributions to the family income. Mrs. Deake brought in money by teaching their neighbors' children. The account book records her "schooling" the children of Barzillai[?] Dilans, Israel Woodbury, and John Bisbee.
