Historical Note:

Havemeyer was associated with the Havemeyers and Elders Sugar Refinery. He died in April, 1897.

Scope and Content:

The collection consists of material relating to Havemeyer's investments, property and the division of his estate. Included are bills, receipts, accounts, correspondence and financial statements. Of special interest is a letter from Cornelius Vanderbilt (23 December 1891) regarding the Edison Illuminating Company of Newport, Rhode Island.
