Historical Note:

The Lechmere Point Corporation was formed in Boston for the purpose of improving the "Lechmere-point Farm" tract of land in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The corporation had the power to make streets, divide the land into lots, build walls to protect the property from water and to erect buildings.

Scope and Content:

The collection consists of the records, describing meetings of the Proprietors of the Lechmere Point Corporation . There are reports of conferences with agents of the Middlesex Canal and the proprietors of Canal Bridge. Also included is an account of the formation of a new corporation at the end of the twelve-year term for which the first corporation was organized.
