Curtis Hibbard, son of Ebenezer and Clarissa (Curtis) Hibbard, was born in South Woodstock, Connecticut on June 18, 1812. As the proprietor of a farm in the town of his birth, Hibbard sold or bartered farm produce as well as his labor. In addition, he hired out his horses, oxen, and wagons to transport individuals and wood to Southbridge, Webster, Sutton, and Charlton. Curtis Hibbard married Asenath Fuller on March 27, 1838.

The collection consists of one volume kept by Curtis Hibbard from 1834-1868. Entries contain name of individual, date, description of goods or services provided, and the amount. Account names include David Whittemore, Alonzo Arnold, Sally Tucker, Ephraim Houghton, John Fuller, Daniel Copeland, John Perry, Asa Bugbee, John Sanger, William Flynn, Edward Perry, Palmer Clark, Augustus Cummings, Lorenzo Macy, Asa Bishop, Cyrus Davenport, William Sanger, John Thayer, Michael Richmond, Joel Fuller, John Smith the Wheelwright, Willard Fuller, Ebenezer Hibbard, William Bailey, Franklin Flynn, George Kilton, Lewis Rathburn, Charles Dean, Henry Perry, Abel Child, Findley Fox and Horatio Whipple. Two later entries contain cost of books for John Bennett and Asenath Ann Bennett.
