| Deal Description | The bonds were issued by the Northampton County Industrial Development Authority to provide funds to be loaned to Bethlehem Steel Corporation for the acquisition, construction, installation, and equipping of certain air and water pollution control facilities at the plants of the company in Bethlehem, Johnstown, Lebanon, and Steelton, Pennsylvania. The pollution-control facilities consisted of the following projects: desulfurization of coke oven gas from existing and new coke oven batteries, control of air pollution from new coke oven battery, control of air and water pollution from production of specialty steels, control of air pollution from ferromanganese furnace, control of air pollution from piggin ferromanganese, waste water treatment and recycling, and control of air pollution from electric furnace shop. The installation of the facilities was required to enable the corporation to comply with existing regulations of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources with respect to the abatement of air and water pollution. |
