Geotechnical Corporation was incorporated in Delaware in March 1936. The company was engaged in research and production of instruments and equipment used in the field of earth sciences, including seismographs for detection and recording of earthquakes, nuclear explosions, and other earth movements. Geotechnical also provided consulting services in earth sciences to industrial and government organizations.
Geotechnical made its first public offering of common stock in 1962, with 90,000 shares priced at $20 per share.
Geotechnical performed very well financially in the years immediately prior to the public offering. The company earned $97,059 from sales of $1.3 million in 1957, and in 1961 sales grew to $7.6 million with net income of $1.3 million.
