The corporation was created for the purpose of leasing a parcel of land located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and owned by Bethlehem Steel. The Eighton Corporation intended to make improvements to the property totaling $32 million, including the construction of a twenty-three-story office building, and Eighton would then lease the property to Bethlehem Steel.
