Born in 1921, Argentinean businesswoman and philanthropist Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat served as president of Argentina's largest cement manufacturer, Loma Negra C.I.A.S.A., from 1976 until 2005, when the company became a subsidiary of Camargo Correa Cimentos S.A. After the sale, she remained involved in the Fundacion Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat, which has actively supported a wide range of Argentine charitable organizations since 1971. In October 2008, the foundation opened the Museum Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat in Buenos Aires. She was the president of Fondo Nacional de las Artes from 1992 to 2003, and the Ambassador-at-Large of the Argentine Republic from 1989 to 2002. She was a member of the Latin American Advisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG from 2008 to 2009. Until her death on February 18, 2012, Ms. Fortabat served on the boards of numerous institutions and cultural associations in Argentina and abroad and received many awards for both business achievements and cultural contributions.
