Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1934, Roberto de Andraca studied at Saint George’s School and at the Naval School of Chile before obtaining his degree in business engineering from the University of Chile in 1960. He is chairman of the board at CAP S.A., Chile’s largest steelmaker. He is also chairman of the board at subsidiary Cintac S.A. as well as a board member for several other affiliates of CAP S.A. He remains active in numerous national and international organizations devoted to the promotion of global partnerships and the advancement of the Latin American steel and mining industries. Mr. de Andraca has also received numerous prestigious awards and distinctions, including the Dutch Order of Orange Nassau, awarded in 1993, and the Gold and Silver Star of the Order of the Sacred Treasure of Japan, bestowed in 1995.
