Arturo Acevedo is currently president and CEO of Acindar Grupo Arcelor Mittal, the largest integrated producer of non-flat steel products in Argentina. He graduated as an engineer from the Buenos Aires Technological Institute and went on to obtain a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. He started his business career in 1965 as a trainee at Acindar. After many years and several positions with the company, Mr. Acevedo was appointed president in 1994 and then named president and CEO in 2000. When Acindar became part of global giant Grupo ArcelorMittal, he was elected group vice-president for Long Carbon South America and country manager for Argentina. In addition, he is president of the Steel Producers Association and vice-president of the Argentine Business Council for Sustainable Development. He is also a member of and holds positions in numerous organizations, both domestic and foreign, with a focus on steel technology and commerce.
