Question: How do I find data on futures, options, and commodities?
Answer:

General

  • In Bloomberg click on the yellow CMDTY button (F9).
  • Global Financial Data features commodity prices back to the 19th century. Use the GFDatabase and the data series types "commodity indices" or "commodity prices."

  • For historical prices of options going back 6 years, take a look at Options Metrics in WRDS.
  • The CRB Commodity Yearbook features historical commodity prices and a brief analysis of various commodities. In print in the Stamps Reading Room (Ref. HF 1040.C7).
