Question: How can I create a list of start-up or venture capital backed companies in a particular industry?
Answer: In Capital IQ (Use in Internet Explorer):
  1. Mouse over the Screening and Analytics tab and select Screening > Companies.
  2. Select an industry
  3. Click on Ownership and select Pending and Current Sponsor Backed
  4. Add other criteria if desired, then click on Total Matching Companies at the bottom of the screen to view the results.

In Thomson ONE Banker (Use in Internet Explorer):

  1. Click on Private Equity from the menu.
  2. Click on Profiles and then Companies.
  3. Select your industry using the Portfolio Company menu.
  4. Select the appropriate investment stage under Firm/Investment details.
  5. Add other criteria as desired and Execute Search.
