Question: How do I screen for or find performance and rankings of hedge funds in Bloomberg?
Answer: Type HFND and press GO for the Hedge Fund Home Page.
  • For performance choose Fund Performance Chart, (shortcut=FPC). Choose Fund Type then Hedge Fund to include them as part of the search. (Make sure Hedge Fund is highlighted.) For performance based on additional criteria, choose other options.
  • For rankings choose any of the Hedge Fund Tables, e.g., Hedge Funds Ranked - 1yr Perf or Hedge Funds Ranked by Strategy.
  • To search for funds choose Fund Search Engine (shortcut=FSRC) then follow these steps:
    1. Click Fund Type then Hedge Fund, then click Update to include as part of the search.
    2. Choose any other options to add to the search such as Manager Location.
    3. After entering search options click Results. A list of matching funds will appear.
    4. To modify search criteria click Actions menu and choose Edit Criteria.
    5. To modify columns displayed in the results click Actions menu and choose Edit Display.
    6. To download this list to Excel click Output menu and choose Excel.
